Bespoke ceramic lighting for your space

We design and produce ceramic lighting shaped around the identity of hotels, restaurants and architectural projects. Pendants, wall lights and table lamps develop through their form, texture and relationship with light. At Deramic, based in Ankara, we combine an architectural approach with 3D clay printing, designing the printer's paths directly.

Whether you are looking for a distinctive focal point or a family of lights that connects different parts of a hotel, we can begin with the atmosphere you want to create. You do not need to have selected a product or arrived at a finished design idea.

A shared language, with room for variation

A pendant in a guest room does not have to be repeated unchanged in the lobby. A shared material, surface texture and approach to form can connect different scales and compositions. We consider each piece alongside the whole family of lights throughout the space.

By varying the parameters of a form, we develop related designs. Guest rooms, the lobby and a stairwell can each have their own character while maintaining continuity. A design's individuality develops from its relationship with the space's dimensions, use and intended atmosphere.

Real ceramic, designed in dialogue with light

We print with clay, then dry and kiln-fire the pieces into ceramic. Designing the paths followed by the printer allows us to make layers and openings part of the surface's character.

In some designs, we emphasise the layered texture. In others, openings between ceramic walls shape the passage of light. These openings do not make the ceramic body itself translucent. The different character of a piece when lit and unlit becomes part of its design.

A lighting family for a boutique hotel in Ayvalık

For the Ayvalık project, we designed pendants, wall lights and a table lamp for 15 guest rooms, the lobby and the stairwell/gallery void. The five-pendant stairwell group and three-pendant lobby group bring together varied forms with a shared texture. The wall lights use an open, double-wall structure.

The pieces for this project were made with the same stoneware clay body and fired at 1200 °C. Lighting design, production and delivery are complete; construction of the hotel is ongoing.
